Masterpiece in Progress

Hello friends,

Welcome to another layer of me as you get a peek into the mind of the woman behind the creation, as she journeys on life's road toward her creator. To tell the truth, I'm not even sure what this blog was meant to be, only that I was led to create it with almost a kind of urgency behind it.

When I started KARDEN the intension was not only to reflect who I was through fabric interpretation but also to tell the stories of everyone I was lucky enough to create for. I wanted to make impact....a connection almost between the person and the clothing so much that you couldn't tell where one started and the other began. I am blessed to have met a lot of great people, who have been instrumental in shaping my talent as well as my character and I guess my intention is the pay it forward with the knowledge I have gained.

Not so long ago a good friend of mine mentioned this scripture to me and I again came across it during my bible study today, so I wanted to share it with you.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another - Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

What does that verse have to do with fashion? Well, let's start with the meaning behind it...at first glance it tells a story of one person encouraging another emotionally, physically or spiritually. However, if you close your eyes and look a little deeper you can almost see the metal rubbing against each other and the heat and friction that motion creates. The mere action of sharpening requires the object to be beaten and reshaped into something beautiful and purposeful and dear I say even better than before.

It's not an easy process and can be painful to go through for the one being sharpened as well as the one doing the sharpening, but it is a necessary one. That type of friction given lovingly can help chip away the rough edges of ourselves that we often cling to so tightly in order to transform into the masterpieces God intended us to become - after all a good friend is better than pocket money - and that type of encouragement can be found in a mentor, a pastor, a spouse or even a person you might consider as an enemy but God can use as a friend to get you where you need to be!

A similar process occurs when creating clothing. The act of cutting, shaping or stitching a piece of cloth; refining it into something different all together and helping it transform into its highest potential is an amazing gift from God that I was lucky enough to receive. I pray every day that He not only shows me how, when and where to use it but that I stand still enough to hear Him and obey.

Change is not always easy, and habits can be tough to break but my friends don't be shy about asking God to show you the parts of you that needs refining and then surrender to the work He wants to do inside of you.

Be blessed in all you do 💕

Karen
